The Community Building Program (CBP) seeks to build community at the pace of the community. To do so, the CBP does not simply listen to residents but actually focuses on hearing and understanding them. CBP is nurturing and continuing a dialogue with residents on a wide range of issues that are of importance to them. This dialogue takes a number of shapes, including “living room chats” hosted in residents’ homes or in other community gathering spots. In these chats, residents invite their neighbors to discuss issues of economic and community development and personal concern.
